  • Author: Jack
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Sweet Chili Crisp Chicken Bites are crispy, tender chicken pieces tossed in a flavorful sweet and spicy chili crisp sauce, garnished with fresh green onions. This quick skillet recipe balances the heat of chili crisp with the sweetness of honey and a hint of lime, making it a perfect appetizer or main dish that’s easy to prepare and packed with bold flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Marinade

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast or chicken thighs, cut into 12 inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Sweet Chili Crisp Sauce

  • ¼ cup chili crisp
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Garnish

  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Cut the chicken into 1-2 inch pieces. Place the chicken in a large bowl or a zip-top bag. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 2 tablespoons of lime juice, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well to evenly coat the chicken with the marinade. Let it sit briefly while you prepare the sauce.
  2. Make the sweet chili crisp sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the chili crisp, honey, and 1 tablespoon of lime juice until fully combined. Set this sauce aside until the chicken is cooked.
  3. Cook the chicken bites: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and let it warm up. Add the marinated chicken pieces to the skillet. Cook without stirring for 3-4 minutes to allow the chicken to brown on one side. Then stir the chicken and cook for another 1-2 minutes, ensuring pieces are cooked through and have a nice sear.
  4. Toss with sauce and finish: Pour the sweet chili crisp sauce over the chicken in the skillet. Toss to coat all the pieces evenly. Continue cooking and tossing for an additional 1-2 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat. Garnish the chicken bites with thinly sliced green onions. Serve warm as a flavorful appetizer or main dish.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs instead of breast for juicier, more flavorful bites.
  • Adjust the amount of chili crisp to control the heat level to your preference.
  • Serve with steamed rice or as a party appetizer with toothpicks.
  • For a gluten-free option, ensure the chili crisp brand used is certified gluten-free.
  • Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 2 days and are delicious reheated.
