Description

This Stuffed Seafood Bread Bowl recipe features a delicious blend of shrimp, crab meat, and creamy cheeses baked inside hollowed-out bread rolls for a warm, flavorful appetizer or main dish perfect for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread Bowl

  • 4 large bread rolls (about 8 ounces each)

Seafood Filling

  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 1 cup crab meat, shredded
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened (8 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the stuffed bread bowls.
  2. Prepare Bread Bowls: Carefully cut the tops off each bread roll and hollow out the insides, leaving about a half-inch thick border. Reserve the removed bread for potential use such as crumbs or side.
  3. Make Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine chopped shrimp, crab meat, softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded mozzarella, chopped green onions, minced garlic, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, and salt and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  4. Stuff Bread Bowls: Spoon the seafood mixture into each hollowed bread roll, packing the mixture lightly but filling completely to avoid gaps.
  5. Bake: Place the stuffed bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the filling is hot throughout.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the bread bowls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving to ensure flavors meld and to prevent burns.

Notes

  • You can reserve the hollowed-out bread for making breadcrumbs or croutons.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle additional Old Bay seasoning on top before baking.
  • This recipe is best served warm and fresh out of the oven.
  • You can substitute the crab meat with imitation crab or other seafood according to preference.
  • To reduce fat, use low-fat cream cheese and sour cream options.
