Quick and Easy 5-Minute Donuts Recipe

  • Author: Jack
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8-10 donuts 1x

Description

These Quick and Easy 5-Minute Donuts are a delicious homemade treat made from simple canned biscuit dough, fried to golden perfection and topped with a sweet vanilla glaze. Ready in just minutes, they’re perfect for a spontaneous dessert or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Donuts

  • 1 can Pillsbury® Biscuits
  • Vegetable Oil (as needed for frying)

Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cups Powdered Confectioners Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Whole Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oil: Add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of a heavy-bottom pan. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches approximately 350°F (180°C), or until a small dough piece sizzles upon contact.
  2. Cut Biscuit Dough: Open the can of Pillsbury® Biscuits and place each biscuit on a cutting board. Use a small cookie cutter or similar tool to cut out small holes in the center of each biscuit to create the classic donut shape.
  3. Test Oil Temperature: Drop one of the dough cut-outs (the centers) into the hot oil. If it sizzles immediately, the oil is ready for frying.
  4. Fry Donuts: Carefully add the prepared biscuit donuts to the hot oil. Fry on one side for 2 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Flip and Fry: Flip the donuts and continue frying for another 2 minutes until the other side is also golden brown and donuts are cooked through.
  6. Make Glaze: In a bowl, mix powdered confectioners sugar, whole milk, and vanilla extract until a smooth glaze forms. Adjust consistency by adding more milk to thin or more sugar to thicken as needed.
  7. Glaze and Serve: Dip or drizzle the warm donuts with the vanilla glaze. Optionally, top with chocolate, cinnamon sugar, or any preferred toppings. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Be careful when frying to avoid hot oil splatters.
  • Use a thermometer to maintain the oil temperature at 350°F for best frying results.
  • Try different toppings like sprinkles, cinnamon sugar, or melted chocolate for variety.
  • Donuts are best served warm.
  • Leftover donuts can be briefly reheated in the oven or air fryer to restore texture.
