Ingredients
Scale
Meatballs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 12 beef meatballs
- 100g tomato pasta sauce
- 100g grated mozzarella
Sliders
- 12 small bread rolls (preferably a batch baked together so they remain attached)
- 50g butter, melted
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 20g grated parmesan
Instructions
- Cook the meatballs: Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and fry the beef meatballs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through. Once done, remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the oven and rolls: Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan)/Gas Mark 4. Carefully slice the entire batch of connected rolls horizontally, ensuring they stay attached at the edges so they form one connected slab.
- Assemble the sliders: Place the bottom halves of the rolls in a roasting tin lined with scrunched-up baking parchment or aluminum foil. Spread the tomato pasta sauce evenly over the bottom rolls. Place one cooked meatball on each roll, then sprinkle evenly with grated mozzarella. Carefully place the top halves of the rolls back over the meatballs, pressing gently to keep everything together.
- Add toppings and bake: Brush the melted butter over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle the dried oregano and grated parmesan evenly on top. Cover the roasting tin loosely with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes, or until the tops are golden and crispy.
- Serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing into individual sliders. Serve warm for a delicious, shareable meal.
Notes
- Using rolls baked together helps keep the sliders connected and makes them easier to pull apart when serving.
- You can swap beef meatballs for a vegetarian alternative if desired.
- For an extra kick, add chili flakes to the tomato sauce before spreading.
- Use fresh oregano if available for a more aromatic topping.
- Leftovers can be reheated covered in foil to retain moisture.
