A refreshing and guilt-free Peppermint Mocha Latte made with natural stevia sweeteners, fresh mint, strong coffee, and non-fat milk, perfect for a cozy and flavorful beverage without added sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
Peppermint Syrup
- 1/2 cup Truvia® Sweet Complete® Granulated All-Purpose Stevia Leaf Sweetener
- 2 cups Water
- 1/4 cup Fresh Mint, washed and chopped
- 1 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
Latte
- 1 tablespoon Truvia® Original Calorie-Free Sweetener from the Stevia Leaf Spoonable
- 1 cup Non-Fat Milk
- 3 tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 cup Strong Coffee
Instructions
- Prepare the Peppermint Syrup: Wash and chop the fresh mint leaves and set aside. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and Truvia® Sweet Complete® granulated sweetener. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Simmer the Mint: Reduce the heat to low, add the chopped mint leaves to the syrup, and let it simmer gently for 4-5 minutes, allowing the mint to infuse the syrup with flavor.
- Finish the Syrup: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the peppermint extract. Strain the syrup through a fine sieve into a clean, sealable jar or bottle. Store the syrup in the refrigerator for future use.
- Prepare the Cocoa Milk Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine the non-fat milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and Truvia® Original calorie-free sweetener. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent any burning or sticking.
- Combine the Latte: Remove the cocoa milk mixture from heat and set aside. In a large mug (at least 12 oz capacity), add half a cup of strong coffee, 2 tablespoons of the prepared peppermint syrup, then pour the hot cocoa milk mixture over the coffee and syrup. Stir well to combine and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of Truvia® sweetener or peppermint syrup according to your preference.
- The peppermint syrup can be stored refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
- For a creamier latte, consider using 2% or whole milk instead of non-fat milk.
- Use high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder for the best chocolate flavor.
- Strong brewed coffee or espresso works best to balance the sweetness and peppermint flavor.
