  • Author: Jack
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 24 cookies 1x

Description

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with these festive dipped butter cookies, featuring tender piped dough baked to golden perfection and dipped in rich black candy melts adorned with shimmering gold, silver, and white sprinkles for a sparkling holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) room temperature butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or substitute with peppermint, rum, coconut, or other flavor extract)
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional, to help with piping)

Dipping and Decoration

  • 1 cup black candy melts
  • Gold star sprinkles
  • Silver star sprinkles
  • White confetti sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the butter cookies.
  2. Prepare Dough: In a mixer, combine the room temperature butter, granulated sugar, egg, and your choice of extract (vanilla, peppermint, rum, coconut, etc.). Blend at medium speed, scraping the bowl often, until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt to the creamy mixture, blending at low speed until all ingredients are well mixed and form a dough.
  4. Pipe Cookies: Attach a 1M piping tip to a pastry bag and fill it with the cookie dough. If the dough feels too stiff to pipe, add the optional 1 tablespoon water to soften it. Warming the pastry bag gently with your hands can also help the dough flow more easily. Pipe the dough in a rotated circular motion onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to create elegant shaped cookies.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the cookies just start to turn slightly golden at the edges.
  6. Cool: Remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before dipping.
  7. Melt Candy Coating: Following the package instructions, melt the black candy melts in the microwave until smooth and ready for dipping.
  8. Dip and Decorate: Carefully dip each cooled cookie into the melted black candy coating, then place them on a rack to allow excess coating to drip off. While the coating is still wet, sprinkle gold star sprinkles, silver star sprinkles, and white confetti sprinkles over the cookies for a festive touch.
  9. Dry and Store: Let the dipped cookies fully dry and harden. Once dry, store them in an airtight container where they will keep fresh and delicious for up to one week.

Notes

  • If the dough is too stiff for piping, adding a tablespoon of water helps achieve the perfect consistency.
  • Try different flavor extracts like peppermint or rum for a unique twist.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent cookies from sticking to the baking sheet.
  • Ensure cookies are completely cool before dipping to avoid melting the candy coating.
  • Store the finished cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to one week.
