Featuring savory ground beef sautéed with tender broccoli and melted cheddar cheese, enriched with a hint of heavy cream and spices, this skillet recipe is both comforting and nutritious while fitting perfectly into keto dietary needs.
Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for rich flavor)
Vegetables
- 2 cups broccoli florets, chopped
Dairy
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Seasonings & Oils
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
Instructions
- Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook thoroughly, breaking it apart as it browns. Once browned, drain any excess fat to keep the dish lean.
- Sauté Broccoli and Seasonings: Add the chopped broccoli florets to the skillet along with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Sauté the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is just tender but still crisp.
- Add Cream and Cheese: Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream and half of the shredded cheddar cheese, mixing well until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy and well combined with the beef and broccoli.
- Melt Remaining Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top of the skillet mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes. This allows the cheese to melt perfectly, creating a delicious cheesy topping.
- Serve Hot: Remove the lid and serve the hamburger and broccoli skillet hot as a comforting and keto-friendly meal.
Notes
- Use an 80/20 ground beef blend for optimal flavor and fat content suited for keto diets.
- If preferred, substitute broccoli with cauliflower florets for a different texture.
- Adjust red pepper flakes quantity or omit for milder flavor.
- Make sure to drain excess fat after browning beef to keep the dish from being overly greasy.
