Ingredients
Scale
For the Burgers
- 500g Morrisons Market Street 15% fat beef mince
- 1 tbsp all-purpose seasoning (Dunn’s River recommended)
- 6–8 cheese slices, chopped
- 2 large pickles, finely chopped
For Serving
- 4 brioche burger buns
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- Lettuce leaves
- Ketchup
- Mayonnaise
- French fries, to serve
Instructions
- Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, combine the beef mince and all-purpose seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well using your hands until fully incorporated. Divide and shape the mixture into 4 large, very flat patties and 4 slightly smaller patties.
- Assemble the Juicy Lucy Burgers: Take one large patty and place some chopped cheese and pickles in the center. Place a smaller patty directly on top. Carefully fold up the edges of the larger patty around the smaller one, sealing the edges tightly with your fingers to encase the filling. Repeat for all 4 burgers.
- Toast the Buns: Heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Place the cut sides of the brioche buns in the pan and toast for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the Patties: Add half of the vegetable oil to the hot frying pan until shimmering. Fry two patties at a time for about 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing gently to form a nice crust. The burgers should be cooked to medium with melted cheese inside. Repeat with the remaining oil and patties.
- Rest the Burgers: After cooking, allow the burgers to rest for 5 minutes. This resting period helps the cheese inside settle and ensures the patties remain juicy and hot.
- Assemble and Serve: Place each patty inside a toasted brioche bun. Top with sliced tomato, lettuce, ketchup, and mayonnaise. Serve immediately with French fries on the side for a classic burger meal.
Notes
- Ensure the patties are well sealed to prevent cheese from leaking during cooking.
- Use medium heat to cook burgers evenly without burning the outside.
- Let burgers rest after cooking to keep cheese molten and patties juicy.
- Customize toppings as desired for added flavor and texture.
- Can substitute cheese with your favorite melting cheeses like cheddar or American for different taste.
