  • Author: Jack
  • Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield: 5 sandwiches 1x

Description

This Instant Pot Barbecue Beef Brisket Sandwich recipe offers a tender, juicy brisket cooked quickly under pressure, then shredded and mixed with flavorful barbecue sauce. Served on sesame seed buns with crisp pickles and onions, it’s a delicious and satisfying meal perfect for a casual gathering or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Brisket

  • 4 lb trimmed beef brisket
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper

Sandwich Assembly

  • 5 sesame seed buns
  • 1 bottle barbecue sauce (we used Bullseye)
  • 10 pickles, sliced for topping
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brisket: Place the trimmed brisket into the Instant Pot. Add water and Worcestershire sauce to the pot, then sprinkle with cracked black pepper evenly over the meat.
  2. Pressure cook the brisket: Seal the Instant Pot and set it to pressure cook/manual mode for 60 minutes. After cooking, carefully release the pressure using the natural or quick-release method.
  3. Shred the brisket: Using forks, shred the brisket into the broth inside the pot to absorb extra flavor. This step ensures the meat is tender and thoroughly mixed with the cooking juices.
  4. Cook brisket again: Set the Instant Pot back to pressure cook/manual mode and cook for an additional 60 minutes to further tenderize the meat. Release the pressure once done.
  5. Combine with barbecue sauce: Remove the brisket from the pot and toss it well with the barbecue sauce until evenly coated and flavorful.
  6. Assemble sandwiches: Place the shredded barbecue brisket on sesame seed buns. Top each sandwich with sliced onions and pickles to add crunch and tang. Serve immediately with your favorite side dish or chips.

Notes

  • For best results, trim excess fat from the brisket before cooking.
  • Use your favorite barbecue sauce to customize the flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier sandwich, add jalapeños or hot sauce as toppings.
  • The leftover cooking broth can be used as a flavorful dipping sauce or base for gravy.
  • Make sure to release the pressure carefully according to your Instant Pot model’s instructions.
