Description

This easy hummus recipe is a quick and healthy Mediterranean dip made with chickpeas, tahini, garlic, Greek yogurt, and lemon juice. It’s smooth, creamy, and perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Hummus Ingredients

  • 1 x 400g can chickpeas, do not drain
  • 1 tbsp tahini paste
  • 1 fat garlic clove, chopped
  • 3 tbsp 0% fat Greek yogurt
  • Good squeeze of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Drain Chickpeas: Drain the chickpeas into a sieve set over a bowl or jug to catch the liquid, reserving the liquid for later use.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Tip the chickpeas, tahini, chopped garlic, and Greek yogurt into a food processor or blender.
  3. Blend to Smooth: Whizz the mixture until smooth and creamy.
  4. Adjust Consistency: Gradually add a tablespoon of the reserved chickpea liquid at a time, blending after each addition, until the hummus reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Season and Serve: Scrape the hummus into a bowl, stir in a good squeeze of lemon juice, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve immediately or chill until ready to use.

Notes

  • If you prefer a thinner hummus, add more chickpea liquid or a little water while blending.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cumin or smoked paprika before blending.
  • Serve with fresh vegetables, pita bread, or use as a sandwich spread.
