Description

These Easy Honey Flapjacks are a simple and delicious baked oat treat made with butter, sugar, honey, and porridge oats. Perfect as a sweet snack or a quick energy boost, they have a golden, chewy texture with a rich honey flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 225g butter, plus extra for the tin
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 350g porridge oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Tin: Heat the oven to 180C (160C fan)/gas mark 4. Butter and line a 30 x 15 cm rectangular baking tin with baking parchment to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt Butter, Sugar, and Honey: In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter, caster sugar, and honey, stirring frequently until the mixture is smooth and the sugar has dissolved completely.
  3. Combine with Oats: Place the porridge oats in a large mixing bowl, then pour over the melted butter and honey mixture. Stir well so all the oats are thoroughly coated with the syrupy mixture.
  4. Transfer to Tin: Tip the oat mixture into the prepared tin. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to evenly press and spread the mixture out flat, ensuring an even thickness.
  5. Bake: Cook in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the flapjacks are lightly golden on top.
  6. Cool and Cut: Remove from the oven and leave to cool completely in the tin. Once cooled, lift out using the parchment paper and cut into squares for serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter, sugar, and honey are fully melted and combined for a smooth coating on the oats.
  • You can use golden syrup instead of honey for a different flavor variant.
  • For chewier flapjacks, bake closer to 10 minutes; for crunchier edges, bake closer to 15 minutes.
  • Store flapjacks in an airtight container to keep them fresh for several days.
  • Adding dried fruits or nuts can enhance the texture and taste if desired.
