Ingredients
Scale
Cube Steak:
- 1½ to 2 pounds cube steak
Seasonings:
- ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Gravy Mixture:
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch, mixed with 1 tablespoon water
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 cup water
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 ounce onion soup mix
Veggies:
- 8 ounces cremini or baby bella mushrooms, sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
Instructions
- Get the base ready – In your 6-quart cooker, toss in the onion slices and mushrooms. Stack the cube steak on top of the veggies. If needed, layer them.
- Whisk up the gravy – Stir the onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, minced garlic, water, black pepper, and seasoned salt in a bowl until there are no lumps.
- Pour and slow cook – Dump the soup mixture on top of the steaks in the crockpot. Cook with the lid on for 6 hours on high or 8 hours using the low setting.
- Thicken it up – About an hour before it’s done, stir in the dissolved cornstarch. Let it cook on high for another 30 to 60 minutes until the gravy thickens up nicely.
- Dish it out – Spoon it over some mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, and serve while it’s warm.
