Chilli-Butter Smashed Radishes Recipe

  • Author: Jack
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 2-3 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A simple and flavorful side dish featuring radishes sautéed in a vibrant chilli-infused browned butter, finished with a splash of fresh lemon juice for a zesty bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp chilli flakes
  • 500g radishes, leaves removed, smashed with the flat edge of a knife (or halved/quartered)
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the butter and chilli: Heat the unsalted butter in a small frying pan over medium heat. Add the chilli flakes and cook until the butter begins to foam and turn a golden brown, infusing the butter with heat and flavor.
  2. Add the radishes: Add the prepared radishes to the pan, ensuring they are well coated in the chilli butter. Stir and turn them frequently to cook evenly, allowing the radishes to soften, which should take about 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Finish with lemon juice and seasoning: Increase the heat slightly and pour in the lemon juice. Let the mixture sizzle briefly to enhance the flavors. Finally, season to taste with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Smashed radishes soften quicker and absorb more flavor than whole or large pieces.
  • Be careful not to burn the butter; once it starts to brown, reduce heat if necessary.
  • Adjust chilli flakes amount according to your preferred spice level.
  • This dish works well as a side for grilled meats or as a spicy vegetable appetizer.
