Description
A rich and indulgent caramel macchiato recipe that combines creamy steamed milk, robust espresso, and sweet caramel sauce, topped with a delightful caramel drizzle. Perfect for a café-style treat made easily at home.
Ingredients
Scale
Milk Mixture
- 250ml whole or semi-skimmed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Coffee
- 60–70ml espresso (a double shot)
Topping
- 1–2 tbsp caramel sauce
Instructions
- Heat the Milk: Use a milk frother or steam wand to heat the milk until it is steaming and reaches a temperature between 60°C and 70°C without boiling. Alternatively, warm the milk gently on the hob and then froth with a hand frother to achieve the desired texture.
- Prepare the Coffee Base: Pour the espresso into a coffee cup or mug and stir in the vanilla extract along with up to 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce, adjusting the sweetness to your preference.
- Combine and Serve: Pour the steamed milk over the flavored espresso. Finish by drizzling caramel sauce in a criss-cross pattern on top to add extra sweetness and visual appeal before serving immediately.
Notes
- Ensure milk does not boil to avoid scalding which can alter the flavor.
- The caramel sauce amount can be adjusted according to personal sweetness preference.
- For best flavor, use freshly brewed espresso shots.
- Whole milk will give a creamier texture, while semi-skimmed is a lighter alternative.
