Bisquick Coffee Cake Original Recipe

  • Author: Jack
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A classic and easy-to-make Bisquick Coffee Cake featuring a tender, moist base topped with a sweet cinnamon brown sugar streusel. Perfect for breakfast or a delightful snack with coffee or tea.

Ingredients

Scale

Batter

  • 2 cups Bisquick mix
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 egg (beaten)

Streusel Topping

  • 1/3 cup Bisquick mix
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp cold butter (cut into small pieces)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prep Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch baking pan thoroughly to ensure the cake won’t stick.
  2. Mix Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 2 cups of Bisquick mix, 2/3 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and the beaten egg until you achieve a smooth, consistent batter.
  3. Pour Batter: Pour the prepared batter evenly into the greased baking pan, spreading it out so it covers the bottom uniformly.
  4. Prepare Streusel Topping: In a separate bowl, combine 1/3 cup Bisquick mix, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter using fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Apply Topping: Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the surface of the batter in the baking pan, covering it completely.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the coffee cake to cool for a few minutes in the pan before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter for the streusel topping is cold for the best crumbly texture.
  • You can add chopped nuts or raisins to the streusel for added texture and flavor.
  • Use an 8-inch pan for best results; adjust baking time slightly if using a different size.
  • The cake is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored wrapped at room temperature for up to 2 days.
