Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Big Mac Salad that captures all the flavors of the classic Big Mac burger in a fresh, low-carb salad form. Featuring seasoned ground beef, crisp iceberg lettuce, fresh tomatoes, pickles, red onions, and creamy thousand island dressing, this recipe is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner with minimal prep.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Seasoning

  • 1 lb ground beef (90/10)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Salad

  • 1 head of iceberg lettuce
  • 2 roma tomatoes, diced
  • 12 pickles, diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced

Dressing

  • 1 bottle thousand island dressing

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: Place the ground beef and olive oil into a sauté pan. Add salt, pepper, paprika, and minced garlic. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the meat is browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease carefully.
  2. Prepare the Lettuce and Tomatoes: Wash and chop the iceberg lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Place the chopped lettuce into a large mixing bowl. Dice the roma tomatoes and add them to the bowl. Toss gently to combine.
  3. Add Pickles and Onion: Dice the pickles into small pieces, ensuring they are of a thicker slice for better texture. Add the diced pickles to the bowl along with the chopped red onion. Toss again to distribute everything evenly.
  4. Combine with Beef and Serve: Add the cooked ground beef to the salad bowl. Using salad tongs, toss all ingredients together until well mixed. Serve the salad topped with a generous amount of thousand island dressing to taste.

Notes

  • Use pickles with thicker slices to retain crunch and texture.
  • For a lighter version, use leaner ground beef or ground turkey.
  • You can substitute iceberg lettuce with romaine for additional nutrients and crunch.
  • Adjust seasoning levels in the beef to your preference.
  • Thousand island dressing can be homemade or store-bought based on convenience.
