  • Author: Jack
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This recipe for Bang Bang Chicken Bites features tender chicken breast pieces coated in a crispy seasoned cornstarch crust and tossed in a creamy, spicy bang bang sauce made with mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice. Cooked quickly in a skillet, these flavorful bites make a perfect appetizer or main dish served over rice or shredded cabbage.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 pounds chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons sriracha

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ⅓ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha

Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (such as vegetable or canola oil) for frying

Instructions

  1. Make the bang bang sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the chicken: Cut the chicken breasts into 1-inch pieces. In a large bowl, add the chicken along with sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and 2 teaspoons sriracha. Toss thoroughly to evenly coat all pieces with the seasoning mixture.
  3. Cook the chicken: Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. When the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces in a single layer without overcrowding. Let the chicken cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes to develop a crispy crust, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink in the center.
  4. Toss with bang bang sauce: Remove the skillet from heat and immediately toss the cooked chicken bites in the prepared bang bang sauce until well coated.
  5. Serve: Serve the bang bang chicken bites hot, either over cooked rice or atop shredded cabbage for a light, crunchy base.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken pieces are cut uniformly for even cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to your preferred spice level.
  • Use a non-stick skillet to prevent sticking and make flipping easier.
  • For a lighter option, try baking the chicken bites instead of pan-frying.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
